Craps & Its History

Online casinos have become very popular for gamblers as they offer easy access to their favourite casino games. Most online casinos offer the same games that one would find when visiting a brick and mortar casino. One popular game that has migrated online is craps With a long history
this popular dice game has developed over the years. The game has also been played in many venues as one just simply must have two dice in order to play.
As with many games
there is some disagreement and uncertainty regarding its exact origins. Some scholars hypothesize that the game actually can be traced as far back as ancient times. Many other scholars are more comfortable in saying the game of craps originated from a British game called
hazard. The game was reportedly invented during the Crusades of the 12th century. It was invented to help stay off boredom during long and monotonous sieges. The game was later introduced to the French who put their own name on it
dubbing it French Hazard or in some cases
craps. The name craps came from the word crabs. The French gave this term to two dice with each featuring a one.
With colonization
many customs from Europe spread to the New World. The game of craps was no exception. In the early 1800s the game found its way to America. Here in New Orleans
the game of craps was adapted from the French hazard game. The game took off and was played in a variety of casino venues. These include not only gambling parlours but also riverboats and wharves as only dice was needed to play. In this version of craps
the types of bets were limited. Therefore
if the dice were weighted
the game could be easily fixed. This problem was eventually solved with John Winn
a dice manufacturer created another version of craps. In this game
the participants placed wagers against the person rolling the dice. They could place bets against or in favour of the roller. This version of the game evolved into the popular game played today in many online casinos today.
